PRE- AND POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE

Fellowships supported by an Institutional National Research Service Award (NIH), in the area of Lipid/Lipoprotein Metabolism and Cardiovascular Disease are available. Research topics include regulation of hepatic production and secretion of lipoproteins; hormonal regulation of lipoprotein gene expression and apoB mRNA editing; genetic regulation of fatty acid oxidation and carnitine palmitoyltransferase; regulation of cholesterogenesis; phosphoinositides and calcium in transmembrane signalling; signalling mechanisms in the cardiac actions of epidermal growth factor; metabolic aspects of lipid absorption; autonomic mechanisms and vasoactive peptides in arachidonic acid and prostaglandin metabolism; regulation of lipolysis in adipocytes; the role of leptin in obesity and its genetic and hormonal regulation; the role of the b-adrenergic receptor in thyroid hormone action and relationship to lipid metabolism. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents. Minorities and women are especially encouraged to apply. Please send curriculum vitae and names of three references to: Betty Hudson, Department of Pharmacology, University of Tennessee, Memphis, 874 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38163. Telephone: (901) 448-6000, FAX: (901) 448-7300. The University of Tennessee, Memphis is an EEO/AA/Title VII/Title IX/Section 504/ADA employer.
